Shed Some Light for November 12, 2016

HARVEST FEST AT COS

On Friday, October 28, Christ Our Savior students celebrated the season of autumn with a Harvest Fest. Students dressed in costumes and celebrated the evening with games, contests, dancing and treats. We thank our Parent Ambassador Group who planned this spoooktacular filled night. This was a very safe and fun way to celebrate the holiday season.

GETTING ON TRACK IN PRESCHOOL

Students in the Christ Our Savior Preschool are participating in a program through the University of Chicago called “Getting on Track Early for School Success.” Getting on Track is a formative assessment system that helps the preschool teacher, Mrs. Butler, monitor the growth of the children’s mathematical skills and plan corresponding instruction. The goal of this program is to improve math learning in the early childhood years, ensuring that all children are prepared for kindergarten and on track for future success in mathematics.

REPORTING SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

Christ Our Savior Catholic School along with many other schools and parishes have been attending Emergency Planning sessions so we are prepared in the event of a crisis at our facility. The Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) has partnered with the City of Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC), Chicago Police Department and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to launch a county-wide “See Something Say Something” (S4) program to empower local residents to help keep the community safe. To report any suspicious activity, please call 855-RPRT-2S4 (855-777-8274).
