Shed Some Light for October 17, 2016

CHRIST OUR SAVIOR STUDENT COUNCIL SPONSORS RED RIBBON WEEK

During the week of Monday, October 24 through Friday, October 28 our students will recognize Drug Prevention Week with theme filled days. Monday’s featured message is “YOLO” (you only live once): Don’t be crazy and do drugs.” Students can participate in Crazy Hair Day. Tuesday is “Be smart and don’t do drugs/Nerd Day.” Students are to dress like a “nerd.” Wednesday’s theme includes “Go the opposite way from drugs” allows the students to participate in fun challenges during the day. Thursday’s theme is “Speak your mind, don’t do drugs” includes poems and skits with an anti-drug theme.  Friday is Disco Day and includes the theme “Boogey away from drugs.” Disco Day attire and an anti-drug classroom door decorating contest are part of the day. These simple catch phrases are a clever way to drive home the importance of being drug free and to understand that doing drugs will not be tolerated.

PARENT AMBASSADOR GROUP

We are proud to announce the creation of a COS Parent Ambassador Group.  This group will help in the planning of new events for our school as well as act as a liaison to our families.  The first event sponsored by the Parent Ambassador Group will be a Harvest Fest which will be held on the evening of Friday, October 28.  A frightfully good meal is being planned along with fun filled activities for our students. My guess is that we will have a spook-tacular time.

WING STOP THANK YOU

Thank you to all those parishioners, family and friends who supported our recent Wing Stop Day by either visiting the Lansing or South Holland location on Wednesday, October 12.    Christ Our Savior received 15% back of your bill of sale. We appreciate your generosity!

LARGE BOXES NEEDED

Our Drama Group is collecting large boxes from washers, dryers, refrigerators, big screen TVs, etc., to use for scenery for their Christmas play.  If you have access to any large boxes that you do not need, please contact the school office. We do pick up!  Thank you!

THANK YOU FOR ANSWERING THE CALL, ANNA

A very heartfelt thank you to my dear friend, Anna Kubiak, who assisted in planning so many past Our Lady of Knock events as well as chief raffle basket maker for Christ Our Savior Catholic School.  Anna passed away suddenly on Friday, October 14. It is with deep gratitude that I would like to thank Anna for all of the HOURS that she spent helping out in making all of our events so successful.  I know that she is now celebrating in the loving arms of Christ Our Savior.

In Christ’s Love,

Karen Brodzik
