AFRICAN-AMERICAN  HERITAGE  MONTH  MASS

AAM Mass

African American History month highlights contributions that African Americans have made to our history and our society.  Celebrating the culture of African Americans helps people of all cultures recognize the contributions made by African Americans.  Throughout the Bible, God called people to recall their past and His saving power in their history.  Spirituality is the strength and a mainstay in the African culture, therefore, it is fitting that we celebrate African heritage with a liturgy.

African American Month

The theme for African American History Month in the Archdiocese of Chicago is G7 which means God to the 7th Power.  During the month of February, the powers of the seven principles of Kwanza (Unity, Faith, Self Determination, Cooperative Economics, Creativity, Purpose and Collective Responsibility) will be explored in our classrooms through projects and assignments.  We believe with all our hearts in our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders and the righteousness and the victory of our struggle.

CHRIST OUR SAVIOR CELEBRATES DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. BIRTHDAY

The student body commemorated the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with an all school prayer service in his honor. The service included a poetic reading about the quarreling colors of the world. The colors learned to appreciate each other as they ultimately became a rainbow for peace and justice.  The poem performed by the kindergarteners and 3rd graders emulated the vision of Dr. King’s dream. Pictured below are our kindergarten and third grade actors and readers.
